If
you are worried about pesticide residue but can't afford to buy
organic produce, look for Biokleen Produce Wash. This spray
is made from grapefruit seed extract and lime peel, coconut
surfactants, cold-pressed orange oil and water and removes
pesticide, herbicide, fungicide, wax and soil. Rinse off and you are
left with only fresh produce taste. Order it online.
Another version is to use diluted grapefruit seed extract (GSE). A
helpful email from the Nutri-Biotic folks lists the many uses
of pure GSE. We have used it as a throat wash during sore throat
season, but it can also be used for washing your face, floors and
fruit. For food, put 30 drops in a sink full of cold water, soak
fruit, vegetables, meat and poultry briefly and then rinse off. Or,
put 30 drops GSE into a 32 oz spray bottle and spray on fruits,
vegetables and meat. For the full list of uses and suggested
strengths of Nutri-Biotic, see
here.
